As I get more experience in this life, I’ve had to learn to embrace the new nouns. New people, new places & new things. Fortunately, I’m the type of person who likes the new. My problem? Knowing when to (& how to) let go of the old. Recently I’ve had a big change in my life and now I am having to let go of the old and embrace the new. But the biggest lesson? Don’t rush & don’t settle.
Sometimes we want to “plug the hole” in our lives with the first thing we come across that seems like a good compliment. But we can miss out on even better if we don’t take our time, put some real thought into it and make a decision based on what’s right not what feels right (or based on a tradition or norm). I’ve had people try to rush me into a decision (a board of people, in fact) & even though I outwardly agreed, inwardly I was laughing. I know better. You can’t sell snake oil to me any more.
So when it comes time to let go, don’t feel like you are missing out, coming up short or blowing in the wind as some will tell you. When you are a child of the King. He has you in the palm of His hand. Sometimes there are things to see, learn and experience before making your decision. Take the time. You’re worth the investment.
Take care & take care of yourself,
