Rest and You’ll See!

Worn?  Frazzled?  Squirrely even?  Well just stop.  Be still and do nothing.  Yep.  Do the exact opposite of what you think you should be doing.  When you’re in a tizzy you’re not thinking, hearing or managing properly.  So take a chill pill and take a step back.  Once you do, you’ll be able to gauge your situation better.  Heck, it may even resolve without your involvement!

Remember, God wants us to be at a consistent state of peace.  When we are at unrest, something is wrong.  In many cases, it’s our perception that is wrong.  So, what’s really going on in that head of yours?  Fear?  Doubt?  Lack of belief?  Attack the situation at the root.  If your mind is under attack, attack back with scripture that reminds you of God’s love for you, His provision, His promises.  Here are some great ones.  If they don’t speak to you, try reading whole stories about characters like Ruth, Elijah, Paul or Jesus.

Romans 12:2-8 says:
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

You don’t have to be everything, do everything or know everything.  That’s why we have The Savior.  To save us!  Being saved isn’t just about not going to hell.  It’s having a friend, confidante, helper who is always there no matter what.  So call on Him when you need Him!  Then rest knowing that He will answer when you call.  Don’t worry about your past mistakes or behaviors hindering your prayers, either.  That’s not the case.  You are TOTALLY and ETERNALLY FORGIVEN!  God can’t punish Christ for you on the Cross then turn around and punish you, too.  That would make Him a liar.  He’s not!  So move forward, no matter how small you feel your faith may be at the moment.  Look what a little faith can do:

Matthew 17:20                And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

Luke 5:20                        Seeing their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”

Luke 22:32                      but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

Romans 3:28                  For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

Romans 5:1                    Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Taking a step back is a major weapon when tackling the events of the day.  Instead of being caught up in minor details, it helps us to see the big picture and refocus on what is important.  Remember, we are not called to control everything, but believe and trust in The One that created, controls & knows everything.  He’s got it!  Take a break!
